Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I love sharing how God is a part of my everyday life!

Stocking up

Stocking up

By now the whole world knows about the Corona Virus. Some of us are afraid, anxious, or exhausted from hearing the news. I’m not going to lie, when I first heard about shut downs and all, my mind immediately went to my family. I started to think about what I needed in case of an emergency. Never did I think that the world would think TOILET PAPER as something we needed in BULK. So I started “stocking up” on things I needed. If you’re like me you probably stocked up on non-perishables. Things like-spaghetti, canned soup, canned fruit, beans, rice, etc. But the next day I went back to the store and to my surprise the shelves were empty. I started thinking about what did I REALLY need? Like, what could I survive off of.

So as I thought of what I really needed, I started thinking about Jesus coming back. So extreme huh? Before you freak out, I want to say that it’s unlikely that this is the end. However, everyday is always a possibility that Jesus will come back. As I was stocking up on food and essentials, I started to think about how, though we cannot meet physically as a church because of this virus, it’s still not “illegal” to have church. But we all know one day this is not going to be the case. The bible warns us of a time where we will be hated and we will not be able to practice our faith.

I really started to think about how much I was really stocking up on faith. How much have I been praying? How much have I been reading His word and bulking up for the times ahead. It’s extremely likely that this will all resolve itself very soon but one day it will not be so and it’s so important that we bulk up our faith. There are so many places in the bible where the people of God prepared. For example, Joseph, who prepared for a famine or The Parable of the 10 Virgins.

I don’t know about you but I really want to use this time of quarantine to draw closer to God. Like for real. Like get close to God and read His word. I want to slow down and actually take my time praying. Every time Chris and I get anxious we’ve been stopping to pray throughout the day. Keep in mind that we don’t stock up from a place of fear but from a place of wisdom.

I want to invite you to draw close to God. This is a perfect time to do a heart check. Perhaps a good time to ask for forgiveness. It’s a great time to spend a little more time in prayer AND definitely a good time to not skim through your Bible-I’m so guilty of skimming. Slow down, savor it, memorize it, and spend extra time with God. While you’re stocking up your food stash and quarantine snacks take a moment to say a prayer or start a bible reading plan.

Matthew 25: 13 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

I’d like to know what you’ve stocked up on. If you’re like me, you pantry is probably filled with the most random food items!
