Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I love sharing how God is a part of my everyday life!

Our Catalina Island Getaway

Our Catalina Island Getaway

After a year of so much change we decided to take a quick break and get away.

Taking vacations and having mini getaways has been vital in our relationship. Especially if you are in ministry, you know that taking these breaks help you stay in it for the long run. I really enjoyed spending 2 days on Catalina Island with Chris! This was our first time there and honestly I really enjoyed it. Our main goal was to be RELAXED & BORED.

Bored?! Yes bored! It’s amazing how we are so used to running around and believing that we are “working hard”. What we end up doing is filling ourselves with so much. But in reality there are only a few things that are truly important. I have found that my relationship with God is what truly matters, followed by my husband and family. Ministry and serving is what I can give back to Him.

Why do I say all this? Well as you know my season at my last job ended and I just really needed a break and so did Chris. He recently got promoted and is now busier than before and of course with ministry on top of all that, we knew it was time to.. well… just be BORED! Why is it SO hard for us to just sit and be still?

So at the end of the first day I looked over at Chris and I see this little wrinkle on his forehead and I smiled and I said- “Babe, I think you are finally aging”. He simply looked and smiled with that sweet smile of his; but then I took a further look and I realized that he was very overwhelmed and stressed and didn’t know how to relax! So we both laughed and said “ WHY IS IT SO HARD TO RELAX!” I am not sure why this is so, but I would like to say this: It is OKAY disconnect and at the same its so important to let the important things be the important things.

One thing’s for sure, is that I really value my marriage. It’s one of the greatest gifts God has given me. Everyday I get to wake up to the sweetest gentlemen on the planet! Being on the island and just sitting there on the beach with him, reminded me again how lucky I am. Suddenly I felt refreshed and just for a moment it was just us two. Before anything, before any platform, before reaching out, I wanted him to feel loved by me. It reminded me of the scripture where God tells us to be “BE STIL”.

So we stayed on the beach and had those deep conversations that I believe all couples should have. There, we went through each thing in our lives that was causing us to not be focused on the “important things”.. and then… we prayed.

Prayer and conversation has been the foundation of our relationship. Whether on an island, in a car, or at home, prayer is only a breath away and we can communicate with God at ANYTIME!

Always remember it’s not about spending a TON of money, its about quality time.

What do you do to reconnect with your spouse? What is important to you? What is your favorite memory of you and your spouse?
